The Hollywood Ashes is back on Sunday May 3rd . The Hollywood Ashes returns for the second year with all the action, competition, legends, celebrities and fun in the sun of the first year but this year it's bigger and better.

The Hollywood Ashes were conceived by a group of cricket enthusiasts in the Hollywood Hills while watching a satellite feed of the 2006/07 Ashes series. It was decided then that Los Angeles needed its own legendary cricket match between Australia and England. In 2008, the inaugural Hollywood Ashes took place as part of LA’s Australia Week – G’Day USA.

The inaugural match attracted lots of attention with a number of former cricket legends participating on the day. Steve Waugh and Mike Whitney represented Australia and Robert Keyes and Simon Jones represented England with Mel Gibson officiating the coin-toss. Other sport and showbiz celebrities joined in to play for their respective sides. The match was played in front of jovial and fiercely loyal crowd of Australian and British expats. Britain won the battle on the pitch but Cricket was the real winner of the day, even if the Americans audience still couldn’t work it all out.

This year, the event will be held during Brit Week on Sunday, 3rd May at Woodley Park. Drinks start at 12 with the days play scheduled to commence at 1pm. Food and drink will be available for picnickers, supporters and all members of the family. The game will be played under Twenty20 rules with each team facing a maximum of 20 overs. The teams will once again be represented by former international cricketing legends with Australia and British celebrities playing on the respective teams. The international selectors are currently fine tuning their teams so an official announcement of the sides is expected soon.

The Hollywood Ashes is supported by a number of noted celebrities, former international cricketers and community leaders with the Honorary Board including David Hill AM, Hugh Jackman, Simon Jones MBE, The Rt Hon Sir John Major KG CH, Rupert Murdoch AC, Ozzy Osborne, Sir Michael Parkinson CBE, Kevin Pietersen MBE, Shane Warne, Sir Nigel Sheinwald KCMG and Michael York OBE.

The organizing committee is also proud to announce the official match day charities. The Australian team charity is the Variety Victorian Bushfire Appeal and the British team charity, in conjunction with Brit Week, is Malaria No More.  The Hollywood Ashes is currently offering a limited number of sponsorship opportunities. A number of these sponsorship packages have already been taking but there are a still a few remaining. The packages include a number of unique branding opportunities including match day signage, access to the VIP area, food & beverage service and exclusive naming rights. Official sponsors will be announced soon and a circulation will be sent to the Australian and British expat communities.
